The Tulum ruins are perched high atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. Although the city had once been called Zama, it became known as Tulum, which in Mayan literally means “wall,” because walls surround it. This city was once a major link in the Mayans’ extensive trade network as both seafaring and land routes converged here. The Mayans had built the walls as defenses against Toltec invaders.

My introduction to the ruins was at its ocean-side entrance. The first thing I saw was a large snake, some kind of constrictor, whose jaws had partially engulfed a rat, slowly pulling the doomed rodent to its death, inch by agonizing inch. I stood motionless watching this primal scene and got the feeling this was a sign of some kind-perhaps even an omen-of what my time in the ruins might be like. I took a deep breath as I moved on, into the ruins proper, and felt again, as I had so often before in the land of the Mayas, that I was entering a state of primeval nature. I was stepping back in time, or, more accurately, entering timelessness itself. The stone walls here are light gray from the encrustation of salt blown up in the wind from the water below and the ruins themselves were cloaked by a mythic energy that was at once both pure and innocent and yet animated with potency and vibrancy.

I settled myself inside the wall and almost at once connected with the stones.

The rocks and stones here guard the gateway between the Underworld-the unconscious, the unknown realm of the deep ocean and the outer world-the conscious realm, the seen world of our terra firma. They are condensed memory banks bridging one world to that of the other. All the information from the unconscious world not yet passed through into the conscious is kept here for safekeeping until mass evolution reaches a level of being able to accept this information into conscious awareness. The rocks release this information by emitting their encoded energy data into holographic thought forms. This is like a stamping of the templates of geometric patterns, which trigger and activate our own holographic DNA memory banks. These encoded messages are like the correct numerical code that opens a locked safe, giving access to stored items that are ready to be utilized. Those that have traveled the energy doorways within their own inner passageways receive these codes unconsciously, becoming conduits for this information, much the same way as the temples do. Throughout time, this information becomes integrated within their consciousness and grounded within the knowledge of their own body. Once grounded, this energy is released into the morphogenic field (the energetic memory of the space continuum) around them, thereby triggering and reactivating others who intersect their paths.

This compellingly abstract message seemed to reverberate throughout the ruins as I wandered the grounds. Some of the temples of Tulum have high stone pillars that are capped with tablet altars, so the sacred word is raised high to meet the gods above. As I walked throughout the ruins, I sensed that the Mayan’s awareness of the embodiment of form and matter equaled that of their deep connection to their God-state selves. These temples seemed to me to be the outer manifestation of the Mayans own inner divinity. They no doubt conceived of their bodies as conduits for Spirit, and it appeared that this is what these stone temples were embodying-the form within which matter and Spirit merge into something more magnificent still. Standing among these stone edifices, I could imagine the awe they must have inspired in the ancient Mayans, and I understood how in building these temples, the people may have been commemorating the fusion of the physical and spiritual.

Inspired by my psychic connection to the entire complex of temples, I settled myself once again to attempt another retrieval. I softened my breathing as I entered that still center within. On a long exhale, I felt propelled back into the memory banks of Earth, which revealed the impregnation of Spirit into matter, where Spirit-the spark of life itself-embodies the manifestation of itself. On the next inhale, I felt my spirit ignite, and the energy rush fueled my passage to the stars above. I felt connected to the Pleiades, and as if I was tuning into one among many of the stellar frequencies, I homed in on these star beings and received the following transmission.

The star beings of this constellation used the city of Tulum as a lighthouse, storing light on the site so that this interstellar light could infuse those entering the ruins-much like the fireflies, which absorb the light of day and emit this light into the darkness of the night. Once a person is struck and infused by this force of light, the bridge between the worlds of consciousness and unconsciousness, of sea and land, of sky and earth, and of man and woman is made. This path into union, alights them toward a safe journey home, where the heart of all things lay.

Upon opening my eyes, the first thing that fell under my gaze was a lighthouse! At least it resembled a lighthouse. It was positioned at the far edge of the ruins, closest to the ocean. It seemed amazing to me that I had not noticed it earlier. I took this sighting as confirmation for the transmission. (Later I discovered that, that particular part of the ruin is sometimes referred to as“The Lighthouse.”) My voyage to the Pleiades had rocketed me high into space and yet had also pulled me deeply into the earth. I pondered its significance, but decided that I should be connecting not with my intellect but with my spirit. So, I closed my eyes and reestablished my heart connection with the ruins. Soon I heard the rocks speak again.

Only by being willing to meet the Underworld, the unseen world where fear resides and is blinded by the light of truth can you be given access to the doorway of the heavens inside you. It is one of your earthly missions to initiate darkness, fear, unconsciousness, and matter into light, love, consciousness, and spirit. By embracing bodily fears and accepting the material self, we come to know this as one of the most profound journeys through the darkness of matter into the reaches of love and light. Only then shall we respect the purpose of fear as a passageway and healing into the oneness of sacred union. This assists Earth in making her debut as the royal province of the universe. She will then be acknowledged in her full glory, as the Emerald Jewel of the multi-universes and her crown will herald the edification into the Heart of Oneness.

The stones of Tulum were speaking to me in ways that those of other Mayan ruins had not. Perhaps the prying loose of my wisdom tooth has unleashed a new ability within me to listen to the wisdom of the rocks. I spent two weeks exploring Tulum. During that time, several observations in particular seemed important. The first had to do with the dogs of the ruins. I spent a lot of time alone in the ruins and noticed that four dogs seemed to be residents of the site, living here permanently. I suppose the logical explanation for their presence was that they were homeless and so had claimed the ruins as theirs, but I felt a different connection with them. They were gentle and often basked in the sun, stretched out on the ground or a stone and soaking up the solar energies. I connected with them at an energetic level and intuited that they were representative of our need to protect the energies and information within us. Just as the Mayan guards and warriors had once watched over the city, alert in their watchtowers for any “oncoming enemies,” these dogs, too, were guardians and warriors. I thought of Annubis, the black dog that protected and guided the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis. The dogs of Tulum felt as sacred. They embodied the feelings of loyalty, love, and protection of the highest order.
